Umm I guess I'll leave a post since I'm going to bed soon and all. I'm sick. AGAIN! This time it's a nasty cold courtesy of Ethan. It's about damn time though since everybody else in my quartet has had a cold, Justin had a little something, Sarah was (is still?) sick for a while, Michelle's sick, Myles (other alto in jazz) has been sick since the beginning of the year, and Tracey was sick. I suppose I was just doomed.
There's nothing really that interesting going on. I'm going to be lonely tomorrow evening. :( Justin already left and Sarah, Michelle, and Ethan are all leaving tomorrow. I'll probably just hang out with Jon and his new buddy or Tracey or both. Oh and clean up my giant mess here. And do homework maybe. I should. Ethan's bringing Aaron up Saturday then we're taking him home a week later when I'm going home to pick up Andrea from the airport.
Uh... I had my 2nd written perc tech test today and I did AWESOME on it I'm sure. That's good though since like the whole class bombed the first one. Yesterday we learned the proper techniques to playing crash cymbals. (It's more complicated than you think but not too difficult.) I was one of the last ones to get in back so the perc guy in our class handed me these huge 22 inch German cymbals. (The German ones are the thickest and darkest sounding, French are the lightest, and Viennese are in between.) Yea right. Like I was going to be able to hold those up in the air. Our teacher took Pat's tiny 16 inch ones away from him and he got stuck with the giant ones because he's the big strong guy. He looked pretty tortured when Jeff (the instructor) made us hold them up in the air for a few minutes. I would never have made it. I wasn't doing too well with the little ones. The day before that Jeff was demonstrating a cymbal crash and managed to invert a cymbal (turn it inside out) then break the strap while trying to fix it. Awesome.
I was recorded yesterday conducting. I have to review it this weekend and write this big reflection on it. Then I have to fix stuff and be recorded again on Monday. Suck. The good thing about that class though is that Tim, John, Ashley, and Andrea are in it so we just try to push each other off our exercise balls and make penis jokes about our batons (okay maybe that's just Ashley and John.) I really like my baton though. It cost $25 (ouch for a baton) but is custom made, perfectly balanced, actually long enough for me, and I really like the feel of the handle.
Yea I should go to bed now since I'm sick and have class in 11 hours. It sucks. I can't sleep well because I'm sick so I'm tired in the morning and don't want to get up (even when I went to bed at 9 one night and didn't get up until about 8:30). Bleh.
Sarah just had a weird encounter with a creepy older guy outside our apartment. He said he'd won $800 at the casino, spent it all on steaks, and was looking for the party. Then he kissed her hand. Sooo she came inside, locked the door, I'm guessing scoured the skin off her hand and told us. So now I'm afraid there are creepy men loitering around our front door. Maybe I'll go check and if so, I'll throw stuff at them.
Umm... g'nite.
