Well, I don't think there's all that much interestingness to say. I'm working at McDonald's AGAIN. Bleh. Justin's already moved to Illinois *sad.* It's just a typical summer.

Hmm... There was a good seagull adventure at work today though... For some reason there was an absolutely enormous amount of seagulls in the parking lot today. I was working at the register at the front counter. G was handing food out in "the hole" and Sam was handing it to her. (They're girls that have worked that quite a while and are a few years older than me.) Sam had been joking for the past couple hours that she was going to freak out if a seagull flew in through the window. Apparently there was a french fry on the edge of the window ledge. It was almost broken in half and dangling off the edge, so G flicked it outside. Then about 40 seagulls descended on it and began fighting over it right outside the open window. I heard G scream, so I looked over and saw the two girls running around while several flocks of gulls were galavanting around outside. I saw one headed directly for the open window, but it swerved at the last second. It must have realized it would smack its wings on the edges. While this was happening. Patrick, one of the managers was outside. He ran over and slammed the window shut before any birds got in. Then, Sam sat on the floor for a few minutes and laughed. This probably doesn't sound as exciting this way, but just keep in mind that I'm probably not exaggerating the seagull numbers.

Gah! I'm on Ethan's computer and I hate his keyboard. It's sooooooo stiff. So, I guess I'm done now since my fingers are all crampy. Toodles!

Smilla told me I should blog about my crazy drinking too much alcohol experience at Ashley's 21st b-day party just a little while ago. When I got there, (only half an hour late) some people (Tracey) were already drunk and spilled alcohol on my boob (Tracey). That's okay. It was fun. I ended up drinking too much all pretty much at the same time. I had a jello shot (which was really strong and had about a shot of booze in it), a smirnoff black, and another jello shot. I wasn't feeling anything so I followed the directions on the back of this grapefruit schnapps I bought to mix it with vodka 1:1. BAD IDEA. DISGUSTING. I thinned it down with water and most of another smirnoff black. It was still pretty gross, but I drank it anyways. It hit me while I was drinking it but it was really hilarious and I was having fun. I had some 100 proof hot damn too. Alcohol count: almost 2 smirnoffs, 2 jello shots, 3 shots grapefruit schnapps, 3 shots vodka, 2-3 shots hot damn. BAD, BAD IDEA. Tracy puked first and Walter and I helped her in the bathroom, holding her hair back and getting her water and whatnot. But, then I had to puke because apparently my body doesn't like about 12 drinks in an hour. I ended up barfing in Tracey's bathroom sink because she was occupying the toilet. Then, since the sink was plugged, I ended up scooping it out with a cup and pouring it in the toilet. Discgusting! Then, I laid on the floor for about half an hour or so while the world swam around in front of me. I think I'm done with booze for a while. The thought of it makes me want to puke again.

Besides all that, it was really fun. I hung out with friends, met some new people, and even saw a guy that I used to sit next to in U-band a few years ago. Umm... I should probably drink some more water and go to bed. Toodles.

But first... exhaustedness. I was up until 5:50 doing my perc tech notebook and my program note for conducting. Then, when I actually went to bed, I didn't go to sleep until 6:30!

Here's how my day was supposed to go:

7:30: get up, refreshed from my short nap
7:35: eat a healthful breakfast, get dressed up, put on makeup, and shove contacts into my tired eyes (because I'm supposed to wear them when I conduct)
8:15: drive to the music building
8:30: miraculously find my conducting dvd that has been missing all weekend
8:35: write three conducting journals
8:56: have a pleasant conversation with a friend
9:02: reformat my perc tech notebook and print it out
9:13: draw the missing pictures in my notebook and put the cover on it
9:30: turn in my notebook
9:35: make a study guide for my special ed exam
10:00: kick ass on my conducting exam
11:30: go home, eat lunch, and study a bit
4:00: kick ass on another exam

Here's how my day went:

7:30: reset alarm for 8
8:00: drag my sorry ass outta bed, throw clothes on, listen to my screaming eyes and wear glasses
8:30: drive to the music building
8:42: discover that my dvd is not in my locker
8:44: drive back home
9:06: discover that my dvd is in fact missing
9:07: drive back to the music building
9:18: ask Batch if he has my dvd (recovery successful!)
9:23: write 3 conducting journals and realize that I kinda looked like an ass on the last recording
10:00: do okay on my exam
10:55: freak out because only half the class has gone and I need to get out early to finish my notebook
11:25: breathe a sigh of relief that only two people are left
11:31: skip out on doing SOS forms
11:32: freak out because my thumb drive's missing
11:33: breathe a sigh of relief that it's still in the compy lab in the computer and signed in (oops)
11:35: finish my notebook
11:59: turn it in with a minute to spare
12:08: turn in some music
12:10: go home

The rest of the day went pretty well. I was freaking out this morning though. Hmm...
So I was reading Questionable Content (ahem nerd) and noticed in the commentary by the author that there is a METAL tribute band for the BEE GEES. What? It's pretty much awesome. Here's a link: www.myspace.com/letsmaketragedyhappen Check it out.

Oh man so there was/is lots of partying and such because it's Western weekend. Thus, there are security peoples at our apartment complex and you're not allowed into the parking lot unless you're a resident. Tracey was picking me up and as I was walking over some guy started hitting on me. It was clearly me since the only other people standing outside were his two buddies and the security guards (not male). He said something like "hello pretty lady." I told him to fuck off and got in the car. It was fun. I got hit on by a hot guy (let's pretend he wasn't wearing an enormous pair of beer goggles) aaand I got to shun him. 'Twas fun.

I guess this post is going in reverse chronological order, sooo... we (me, Justina, Ethan, Smilla, and Tracey) went to the casino. I didn't want to spend any money so I watched Tracey play a game several times on one dollar. Ethan blew a whole $16. P-sh. Perhaps Ethan shouldn't go in the casino very often.

Oh and in case you haven't gleaned this info from someone else's journal, somebody lit a truck on fire in our parking lot Thursday night. Smilla got some pics printed in the paper from it: themorningsun.com/articles/2008/10/17/news/doc48f8f1980c404208143625.txt
media.www.cm-life.com/media/storage/paper906/news/2008/10/17/News/Fire-Engulfs.Student.Truck.In.Deerfield.Apartments-3493231.shtml
The rumor is that some members of Delta Chi set it on fire because of a bunch of drama that went down a little over a week ago. There was a party at Delta Chi and an uninvited guest who called himself a football player tried to get in and was kicked out. He came back with 15-20 people and there was a big brawl. 6 people were arrested and 5 people went to the hospital. So supposedly since this fellow was a former football player, he was involved with that party thing so they lit his truck on fire. No idea if it's true or not. The crazy thing is, Smilla almost went to that party. I'm glad she didn't

Anyhoo... I have a lot of crap to do tomorrow, so I suppose I should go to bed. Blech. G'nite.

Umm I guess I'll leave a post since I'm going to bed soon and all. I'm sick. AGAIN! This time it's a nasty cold courtesy of Ethan. It's about damn time though since everybody else in my quartet has had a cold, Justin had a little something, Sarah was (is still?) sick for a while, Michelle's sick, Myles (other alto in jazz) has been sick since the beginning of the year, and Tracey was sick. I suppose I was just doomed.

There's nothing really that interesting going on. I'm going to be lonely tomorrow evening. :( Justin already left and Sarah, Michelle, and Ethan are all leaving tomorrow. I'll probably just hang out with Jon and his new buddy or Tracey or both. Oh and clean up my giant mess here. And do homework maybe. I should. Ethan's bringing Aaron up Saturday then we're taking him home a week later when I'm going home to pick up Andrea from the airport.

Uh... I had my 2nd written perc tech test today and I did AWESOME on it I'm sure. That's good though since like the whole class bombed the first one. Yesterday we learned the proper techniques to playing crash cymbals. (It's more complicated than you think but not too difficult.) I was one of the last ones to get in back so the perc guy in our class handed me these huge 22 inch German cymbals. (The German ones are the thickest and darkest sounding, French are the lightest, and Viennese are in between.) Yea right. Like I was going to be able to hold those up in the air. Our teacher took Pat's tiny 16 inch ones away from him and he got stuck with the giant ones because he's the big strong guy. He looked pretty tortured when Jeff (the instructor) made us hold them up in the air for a few minutes. I would never have made it. I wasn't doing too well with the little ones. The day before that Jeff was demonstrating a cymbal crash and managed to invert a cymbal (turn it inside out) then break the strap while trying to fix it. Awesome.

I was recorded yesterday conducting. I have to review it this weekend and write this big reflection on it. Then I have to fix stuff and be recorded again on Monday. Suck. The good thing about that class though is that Tim, John, Ashley, and Andrea are in it so we just try to push each other off our exercise balls and make penis jokes about our batons (okay maybe that's just Ashley and John.) I really like my baton though. It cost $25 (ouch for a baton) but is custom made, perfectly balanced, actually long enough for me, and I really like the feel of the handle.

Yea I should go to bed now since I'm sick and have class in 11 hours. It sucks. I can't sleep well because I'm sick so I'm tired in the morning and don't want to get up (even when I went to bed at 9 one night and didn't get up until about 8:30). Bleh.

Sarah just had a weird encounter with a creepy older guy outside our apartment. He said he'd won $800 at the casino, spent it all on steaks, and was looking for the party. Then he kissed her hand. Sooo she came inside, locked the door, I'm guessing scoured the skin off her hand and told us. So now I'm afraid there are creepy men loitering around our front door. Maybe I'll go check and if so, I'll throw stuff at them.

Umm... g'nite.

Hokay. So I just realized besides yesterday I haven't actually updated since I got rehired into McDonald's in June and that wasn't really a good one.

I'm sure you already all know about Justin hitting a deer and Ethan being hit by an idiot. Sooo a while ago Ethan was trying to find a place to get his car fixed and the estimate he got up here was $3600. The guy wanted to do everything perfectly and use after market parts which while they are cheaper than new parts, are much more than used parts. My dad did some digging and found a guy back home whose estimate was $2200. MUCH BETTER. Turns out, it's actually only a 2 grand. Anyhoo, his car was down getting fixed and was going to take an additional week because the painter got sick when my car started going on the fritz. Currently, we are both without cars. That state is made of SUCK. I'm not getting any good practicing done because I don't want to be stuck here until 10:30 and I cannot stay later unless somebody comes and gets me.

School's been okay. Conducting class seems like it'll be worthwhile but we have these swiss exercise balls that are supposed to help with alignment and lower back pain. The thing is I don't have lower back pain; it's all in the top and nothing short a reduction of something is going to solve that problem. I got my baton though. I like it! I always thought they were awkward but now that I have one that's long enough and I know how to hold it, it's cool. I made 2nd alto in Jazz Central again and I'm working on getting some better jazz chops because I don't want to lose my spot when more people audition next semester. It's tough. I just memorized the chord changes for 6 standards in about 3 days. Not fun. Perc tech is disappointing. I had to learn a new grip because the one I used for quads is not appropriate for snare or mallets. We're doing mallets today and I think I forgot the earplugs I got from Ethan. The bell sets in beginning percussion kits=death. Seriously. I wouldn't think it would cost too much more money to make them IN TUNE. My Kodaly methods class looked like it was going to be exciting because we were going to bring in kids, but then one girl dropped out of the 5 of us so our prof decided to not bring in kids. Or at least that's the story. I'm about 184% certain that it's really because she never got the fliers ready and sent to the schools. I hate delivering lessons to a classroom of college students. It's not the same at all. Quartet's good so far. Yay quartet! We haven't rehearsed yet this week because first Ashley got strep and John was sick too. Then Ashley still had strep. Then I got sick. Woot.

Eep. I guess I need to go bang on some out of tune bells.

(Yay a short day!) I'm going to go take a shower now.

I'm in a new quartet this year. We finally came up with a name yesterday: Diversion Quartet (or Diversion Q4 if you're going to write it the cool way.) Nichol doesn't like the name, but everybody else does so, oh well. Plus, John made a cool poster with all of us. He took a picture of each of us and made them look like sketches then made us each a different color. It's neat. If I get ahold of the file, I'll post it on here.

I'm going to go take a shower now. Bye.

So I'm really bored. I'm at Ethan's and he's in the shower so yea...

Hmm... what have I been up to since I got out of school? I'm taking a bio class at Mott then in the summer semester I'm going to take 3 more classes: history, computers, and logic. Shouldn't be too bad except for the suckiness of the schedule. I looked for a job today at the Outlets in Birch Run and there are two that look promising. One place (can't remember the name and don't know how to pronounce it anyways) is a store that sells kitchen stuff and the other is Dress Barn Women. I think I"d really like to work at the latter. I saw Liz Lemmon today and asked her if she still worked there and come to find out, I would be taking her place. Lol. They could just hand me the name tag.

Ethan's brother is playing some weird video game and this chick on it is onstage and just sang the phrase "until I grow some hair on my breasts." She also just said she has great tits. Okaaaaay. She's "ready to be a real man." Very odd.

I hung out with Jon last night. 'Twas fun. We walked to Nick's house and back from my place which is about 6 miles altogether. I miss Nick. *pout*

I guess nothing that fascinating has been happening... I got contacts. I was having a bunch of trouble getting them in but Kimmie helped me. Then I felt better when the eye doctor went to put a new pair in my eyes today and the left one fell out--it's probably happened to me about 20 times already even though I've only worn them probably 6. The left was bothering my eye a lot but I got a different kind and it doesn't anymore. Yay for no eye pain!!! Ooh and I ordered new glasses. They look really similar to my old glasses except they're RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow I'm going to drive down to the Detroit area for a bachelorette par-tay. For those of you who don't know, Ethan's brother's getting married in about 2 weeks. I've heard sooooooooo many stories about trying to get the marriage license. Ick.

Ethan got a really bad virus or something on his compy and while he's trying to get it fixed, he's running Linux and it looks like shit. The quality of the image is just really bad. I apologize for any typing mistakes, but I can't really see a lot of the words very clearly. If any of you computery people know how to make this OS (ugh that looks like DS) work with a wide screen, let me or him know. I think that's the problem. :(

Okay, bye!

Finals week has been very unstressful. All I have left is my singing test Friday morning. I'm not worried about that. Whoa! I just found out my instrumentation and scoring grade. 97.85% baby!!! I got a 104% on my band project. Yesssssssssssss! That means I'll probably pull a pretty good GPA this semester. I'm looking at all A's and A-s (as long as the final project in theory went well and I do well on my singing test). I just looked at my last dictation exam for sight singing and I somehow pulled a 96. I got a D on the last one and a C on the one before that. Huh. I also got a 96 on my final project. This brought my B that might've plummeted to a B- from that test up to an 89.27%. Hum... according to my calculations, it's actually a little higher than that but still not quite at an 89.5. I can hopefully bring it up over the 90 mark with the last singing test.

Annoyances:
the stupid people downstairs are playing their obnoxious music too loudly. Again. Just 2 more days...
I walked in as Sammi and dipshit were walking out and I had to pee really badly but I had to unplug the toilet that somebody left. Again. Just 2 more days...

I really do want to kill my neighbors. My desk is literally vibrating. K I'm going to go do something else. Bye.

Sooo... some of our idiot neighbors lit a fire in the parking lot last night and it looked like it was oil on fire and there was a chair in it and they tossed a trash can on top. Jeez. Justin called 911 and the cops and fire department came. Slightly amusing. They kept shining a light up at us in the window. P-sh. We can look if we want. When I took Jon home it was really smelly outside. The end.

I'm done with my scoring project! Hooray!!! Of course technology had to throw a few last minute dumb-ass obstacles at me. The last page of my score decided to look giant and not the correct size (even when everything was set to the same settings) so my prof had to fiddle around with it and make it look at least mostly like the other pages. Then I had to fix all of my titles and page numbers so they didn't look too small. Grr.

I had to make a copy of my original music to hand in with the score so I asked to do it in class since I was done with everything. I was told the copier in the music building wasn't working but I had to walk to the library for the ATM so I could pay for the copies anyways. ATM was out. (Der. I almost typed ATM machine.) Sooo... I had to walk to the UC to use that one. This isn't really a problem since the UC is only a 5 minute walk from the music building and the library is in between them. I got a new 5 from the machine and it was sweet looking. But, then the change machines in the library wouldn't take it! UGH. I definitely did not have time to walk back to the music building, get my purse, and go back to the bank in the UC. A guy working at the library changed bills with me and after having to walk to a different floor because the machine didn't work on the floor I was on, I got to make the copies. Sooo... what should have taken 10 minutes tops took like 20 because technology sucks. The end.

I'm eating a tuna sammich and besides the stale bread, it is very yummy.

To do for the rest of the day: Move stuff around so that my parents can pick it up Wednesday and practice (I may wait until later because it's approximately 80 degrees in the music building at the moment.) Maybe I'll start my theory paper too. Hmm... Bye for now.

Liz vs. Mac

Liz lost.

*mumblefroggincashheelgrump*

Assignment: Score a piece for band. Check--I chose Irving Berlin's "Blue Skies"! Mostly. I just about finished it Friday. All I had to do was do a couple things like put in measure and page numbers, extract the parts, and check some cosmetic things. This should not take very long. I gave myself an hour and a half between a choir concert that I er... left early from and Kyle's recital. ALL I GOT DONE WAS THE PICCOLO PART. Friggin' computer. Here's what went down:

I extracted the parts. That went fine. Then after doing 4 of them, I realized I had forgotten to create a tempo marking. Crap. The parts are supposedly linked to the score, but they're not really. You kinda have to re-extract them. I deleted the files I had assuming that I would just be able to create new ones which makes a lot of sense. Buuut Finale decided to not be nice about it and it didn't work and I had to drag the old files from the trash back onto my flash drive. But for some reason when I did this (this is the part where i get really pissed at Macs) even though I encircled all of my files with that neat little box to select all of them, that neatness did not transfer to my flashdrive like it would on a normal computer like say... mine. Instead, the computer decided it was a good idea to widely and irrationally separate the files from each other and scatter them all over the window for the drive. This wouldn't be so bad except it wasn't just a few inches between, it was more like a foot between each so I had to scroll, drag, scroll, drag, etc to get them to one location where I could see, organize, and open them. There was only one left barely outside of my view so I scrolled over and dragged it over 2 inches. The arrows and bar disappeared! Hooray! NOT. When that happened, the view in the window didn't move over and I now had several files off the screen and no way to get to them. Luckily it worked when I exited and re-entered.

That was problem one which really pissed me off. Problem two was just the normal shitty school of music computer problem. It was being ridiculously slow, the mouse only has one button, the keyboard doesn't work correctly with Finale, etc, etc. UGH. I wish I had Finale2008 on my compy here. It'd be SO much easier.

Oh and I don't even think I told you about all the problems I had in class in the past week with a computer. It decided to randomly transpose the flute parts down half a step but still have them written correctly. The prof and I played with it for a while and almost got it right but then class was over. The next class, it did it again and also all of the woodwinds. I managed to fiddle and fix that. Then, the glock was like a FOURTH off. Jeez. So I've given up listening to stuff and am happy I don't really need to anymore.

Anyhoo, I still have to print off 14 parts and a score. The parts are due tomorrow at 1 and the only time the lab doesn't open until 9. I have class from 9 until 12. AWESOME. I guess I should go to bed then because I get to fight this crap tomorrow instead of eating lunch. :(

To ze roomies: My parents are coming up Wednesday afternoon to get stuff, so that means no more crappy futon and no more bed for me. :( Sleeping on an air mattress with cramps=suck
